B-Day - establishing a beachhead for a new industry

B-Day, the code word for a new initiative from Leo Bakx Bamboo Solutions. Negotiating with the Environmental Technology Centre of Murdoch University in Perth and the Centre For Sustainable Living in Denmark a series of courses, seminars and workshops are planned on the emerging bmaboo based industry in Western Australia.

Subjects covered will range from distinguishing useful bamboo species from look-alike weeds to building bamboo structures to jamming on self-made bamboo percussion, wind and string instruments.

We have a tentative preliminary program including renowned bamboo artist Antoon Versteegde from The Netherlands, musician builder and photographic artist David McCleery from England as well as local and regional bamboo experts like Peter Form and Leo Bakx from Albany and Nick Hogarth from Araluen Botanic Park.

Bamboo Zeppelin Dreaming

As part of the B-Day Bamboo Industry seminars and workshops we are proud to announce that Antoon Versteegde -renowned bamboo installation artist- recently agreed to conduct one or more workshops building bamboo rings.

We are now negotiating with other parties to find a suitable location. Antoon has been dreaming of a series of bamboo rings, 12 meters high and 100 meters long, forming a bamboo Zeppelin. For more information on the projects of Antoon Versteegde please visit www.versteegde.nl.
