Summer workshops in Domaine de Boisbuchet
Vitra Design Workshops
The Domaine de Boisbuchet lies in the hilly
landscape of Charente between the towns of Poitiers, Limoges
and Angoulême. Over the summer months, this idyllic 19th
century country estate becomes a meeting point for the international
design scene. Together with the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris,
and the C.I.R.E.C.A. (Centre International de Recherche et d'Education
Culturelle et Agricole), Vitra Design Museum has been offering
inter-disciplinary summer workshops for the last five years on
themes of object design, architecture, furniture design, fashion
design and so on.
The courses are lead by internationally
known artists, architects and designers. Simple but functional
workshops should encourage participants to improvise and experiment
in the course of their work. If more space is needed, there are
140 hectares of open grounds where nature not only supplies a
rich source of ideas and materials but also lends itself to presentations,
performances and objects inspired by the countryside.
The Domaine de Boisbuchet offers an optimal
situation to interact with like-minded individuals from around
the world (there were participants from over 50 nations in 2000)
and bring exciting and unconventional projects to life without
feeling pressurized to perform.
